AROW/MITO Workshop

Back to 2011, I was assisting my supervisor, Josephine Ratna PhD., who was in the process of data collection for her research. Her research topic was: “An Antenatal Resilience and Optimism Workshop (AROW/MITO – Menjadi Ibu Tangguh dan Optimis) ” for pregnant mothers on their second tri-mester. The objective was to empower the pregnant mothers in order to protect them against antenatal depression. The final product of her Doctoral dissertation was a two-day module for pregnant mothers. I took part as one of the presenters! I was so honored.

Finally, on 3-7 April 2017, we did our first Training for Trainer (ToT) with Indonesian Ministry of Health in Jakarta. The trainers were mostly midwives from Puskesmas (Indonesian Community Health Centre) and psychologists from several areas.

We are hoping that AROW/MITO workshops will enable pregnant women to feel empowered, to believe that they are able to help themselves and their babies.

Being with children turns out to be the most enjoyable time for me. In professional line, I never expected that the best lesson of life come through those little hands of children - with their purity, sincerity and truthfulness. Whenever I sit with a child, I let them lead my understanding of their world - I let their sight guide my way of looking at them. And I always coming to a new land to discover and understand. God bless them! I am a mother of a two-year old boy. His presence strengthen my calling toward children and I am hoping that a lot more hands are willing to give their best for our children - wherever they are.
